We recommend putting all valuables, documents and money in your hand luggage and taking it with you on the plane. All metal sharp and cutting objects (nail scissors, nail files, penknife, etc.), as well as any liquids, gels and aerosols (with the exception of baby food and medicines, if necessary) should be packed in the luggage — it is prohibited to carry such items in hand luggage. Do not forget to collect and take with you a first aid kit that will help with mild ailments, it will save time searching for medicines and eliminate unwanted communication in a foreign language.
If you do not move currency and items that need to be declared across the border, then you should pass through the customs control zone along the "Green Corridor". Without presenting documents and without entering information about the currency in the passenger customs declaration, tourists have the right to take out cash foreign currency and/or the currency of your own country, as well as traveler's checks in the amount of no more than 10,000 US dollars. If the amount exceeds this limit, it must be declared in the passenger customs declaration.
Passenger registration and baggage check-in are carried out on the basis of a registered air ticket or a printed itinerary and/or electronic ticket receipt, as well as a passenger's passport. Upon check-in, the passenger is issued a boarding pass, which must be kept until the airline claims on the quality of the air transportation services provided. Please remember that check-in for the flight ends 40 minutes before departure (departure time is indicated on the ticket) local time. A passenger who is late by the time of the end of passenger check-in and baggage clearance or boarding the aircraft may be refused transportation. Each air carrier sets its own baggage allowance, as well as the dimensions and weight of hand luggage, carried in the cabin of the aircraft. Check this information before departure. For the carriage of baggage in excess of the established free baggage allowance, an additional fee is charged at the rate set by the carrier. The carrier has the right to refuse a tourist to carry baggage, the weight or volume of which does not meet the established standards.
Kazakhstan is located in the center of the continent of Eurasia and ranks 9th in the world in terms of area — 2724.9 thousand km2. Kazakhstan borders Russia in the northwest, north and northeast, China in the southeast, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the south. It shares the waters of the Caspian Sea with Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
The climate of Kazakhstan (with the exception of the south) is sharply continental with an average temperature between -4 °C and - 19°C in January and between +19 ...+26 °C in July. In winter, the temperature can drop to -45 °C, and in summer it can rise to +30 °C. On the territory of Kazakhstan, all four seasons are pronounced – with frosty winter, blooming spring, hot summer and crimson autumn. The cold winter begins in November and lasts until April. The influence of Arctic air masses leads to severe (up to -50 ° C) frosts. Spring is short and changeable – from mid-April to the end of May. At the same time, the weather in spring is very unstable: a clear warm day can suddenly change to a sharp cold snap. Dry hot summer begins at the end of May and lasts until mid-September, the temperature rises at times to +35...+40°C. Autumn, with even weather and night frosts, begins at the end of September and lasts until the beginning of November.
The main religions of Kazakhstan are Sunni Islam and Russian Orthodox Christianity. Kazakhstan officially declares freedom of religion.
The territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan is divided into two time zones (officially the 4th and 5th) with UTC+5 and UTC+6 operating in them, although in fact it is located in four geographical time zones: UTC+3, UTC+4, UTC+5, UTC+6. THE NATIONAL CURRENCY The national currency of Kazakhstan is the Kazakhstani Tenge (KZT code). 1 USD = 450 KZT US dollars, euros and rubles can be easily exchanged for tenge at any of the numerous exchange offices operating with banks and independently. Banks in Kazakhstan, as a rule, work on weekdays from 9.00 to 18.00. Exchange offices are open from early morning until late evening, operate at airports, train stations, busy places, in large shopping centers. The main European and international credit cards are accepted for payment.
Mostly Kazakhs prefer meat food. The main national dish of the Kazakhs is beshbarmak. Beshbarmak is prepared from lamb, horse meat or beef with the addition of dough. In Kazakhstan, horsemeat products are also very popular: kazy, karta, zhal, zhaya – from drinks: koumiss, shubat. Medicinal drinks kymyz (mare's milk) and shubat (camel's milk) have medicinal properties and a tonic effect and are used to cure diseases of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract. Considering that representatives of more than one hundred and thirty nationalities live in Kazakhstan, the cuisine of Kazakhstanis is very diverse. There are many restaurants and cafes in large cities of the country, where you will be offered dishes of European and national cuisine.
On the day of arrival, check-in is carried out in accordance with the rules adopted at the hotel. Usually starting at 14:00 local time. Please familiarize yourself on the spot with the terms of service at the hotel and adhere to the rules established by the hotel. On the day of departure, before the check-out time (usually 12:00), you need to vacate your room and pay for additional services: telephone calls, mini-bar, ordering food and drinks in the room, massage, etc. You can leave your luggage in the hotel's luggage room and stay at the hotel until the arrival of the transfer. If you have not rented the room before 12:00, the cost of the room is paid in full for the next day. We would like to inform you that since 01.01.2023, a decree has been adopted on a tourist fee of 5% of the total room rate for foreign citizens.
Group: Ordered and paid services, such as transfers and excursions, are provided to the tourist only at the time specified in the program or voucher. It can be adjusted by the accompanying group on the spot, depending on the specific circumstances: late arrival of the plane, "traffic jams" on the roads, bus breakdown, illness of the guide. Individual: For each individual service, you must be given a separate voucher indicating the date, time and place of the meeting, as well as a contact phone number to call if you have any problems and any questions. We recommend comfortable shoes without heels, a hat, an umbrella, a camera and drinking water for all excursions. On excursions involving visits to temples, cathedrals and churches, you need to come in appropriate clothes: shoulders and knees should be covered. A tourist who did not show up (or was late) for the tour is not entitled to monetary compensation and the transfer of the tour to another date.
On weekdays, large stores in Kazakhstan usually work from 09:00 to 22:00, there are usually no lunch breaks. Small shops are open on weekdays from 10:00 to 20:00. Markets usually open from 08:00 and work until 22:00, but each pavilion owner decides for himself what time he comes or leaves work. Traditional Kazakh souvenirs are saukele (national women’s wedding headdress), kamshy (Kazakh whip made of genuine leather with a goat leg). Tourists often buy local fermented milk products – kymyz and kurt (type of cheese), jewelry made of silver in the national style, a variety of products made of felt wool.
The international telephone code of Kazakhstan is the same as that of Russia – 7. In Kazakhstan, cellular communication and mobile Internet services are provided by the operators “Kcell”, “Activ”, “Beeline”, “Tele2”. SIM cards of these operators can be purchased at the airport, railway station, numerous communication salons.
Tipping in Kazakhstan is not as common as in the West, that is, they are not a generally accepted norm. The reason for this is the fact that almost always the cost of service (in cafes, hotels, travel agencies, etc.) is already included in the final bill, so there is no need for additional remuneration, but if you liked the service, then for example in a restaurant or cafe, you can leave the change.
We strongly do not recommend buying excursions and additional tourist services in unknown tourist and excursion agencies. You may be given deliberately false information about the tour itself, you will not be guaranteed the safety of the services provided and the serviceability of the equipment used, thereby you can put yourself in serious danger. Before the trip, it is recommended to take with you photocopies of the main pages (with a photo, personal data, registration mark) of the foreign and domestic passports of your country. Carry your passport (or a photocopy of your passport), a business card of the hotel with you. In case of transport accidents, conflicts with the police, other local authorities, it is necessary to inform the representative of the host party or the staff of the Embassy / consulate your country. During the travel period, the tourist does not have the right to commercial activity or other paid work. Wash your hands before eating. Do not drink raw water, especially from open reservoirs. It is recommended to use mineral water for drinking, which can be purchased in the shops and bars of the hotel. It is not recommended to carry large amounts of cash with you. Theft of money and things from tourists happens quite often, as well as fraud with fake dollars. You should not take large amounts of money out of your wallet in full view of everyone When leaving the bus at stops and during excursions, do not leave hand luggage in it, especially valuables and money. It is better to keep important documents, cash and jewelry in the safe of the room. If there is no safe in the room, it can be rented for a fee from the hotel administration or deposited by the porter in the safe at the reception. It is recommended to hand over the room key to the hotel reception desk, in case of its loss, inform the administration. In many hotels, it is forbidden to take towels out of the room to the beach or to the pool. Do not bring towels or equipment from the room to the beach without the permission of the staff. If there is a mini-bar in the room, then all drinks and snacks taken from it, as a rule, must be paid for.
